The Roofvent 500 System

To meet the demanding needs of today's industrial building market, Alsynite have developed the Roofvent 500 System. Economically priced the Roofvent 500 is maintenance free, rotating freely and reliably, due to the permanently lubricated bearing system. The unique variable pitch base also allows rapid installation, as one size fits all roof pitch angles. The Roofvent 500 complies with AS2428.1 – 1993 to wind speeds of 200 km/hr and to the entry of wind driven rain at a rage of 2.5L/sec, under cyclonic conditions. Special fixings are required for cyclonic areas. Further details are available from your authorised Alsynite Distributor.

Benefits of the Roofvent 500 Series

No Operation Costs

As the Roofvent 500 System, is a self contained wind powered design, there are no operational costs incurred.

Reduced Power Costs

Proper ventilation, provides a cooler, damp free and low humidity working environment, reducing the need for costly air conditioners or industrial fans.

Reduced Installation Costs
Due to the versatility of the variable pitch throat, installation costs are reduced as one unit fits most industrial applications (0° - 22.5°).

Reduced Maintenance Costs
Rising damp & humidity causes corrosion of building structures, painted surfaces, metal fittings and potential corrosion damage to electrical wiring. Proper ventilation eliminates these problems.

The Roofvent 500 Package

The Roofvent 500 is suitable for all composite metal and fibre cement roofs, with pitches up to 22.5° . The Roofvent 500 package comes in a durable cardboard box which contains the turbine head, base flashing and 500mm diameter varipitch throat. Manufactured using high performance aluminium, the Roofvent 500 is available in mill finish. Special colours are available subject to minimum order quantities. Installation instructions and screws are also provided for assembly.

Calculating How Many Ventilators

  1. Determine the Volume (VOL) of the building in cubic meters. (Length x Width x Height).

  2. Dependant on the building type, select the required Air Changes (A/C) per hour, from the table below.

  3. From local authority records, determine the typical wind speed. 6, 8,10,12 or 16km/h. This will establish the exhaust capacity M 3 per hour (Refer Table).

  4. Calculate:
    No. of Ventilators  =   VOL x A/C
Exhaust Capacity M 3   (Refer to Table)

The Performance data above is calculated in accordance with the American Society Of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. (ASHRAE) Air change rates must conform to local health department building codes.

Ten Year Performance Warranty

The Roofvent 500 is warranted for a period of ten (10) years, guaranteeing that the ventilator turbine will continue to spin when subjected to direct wind under normal commercial conditions. For full details, refer to the Alsynite Warranty Card.

« Roofvent 500 Installation Instructions

These eight (8) steps summarise our recommended installation instructions for metal roofing. It is important to conform to the local safety standards. Full installation and assembly instructions are contained within the Roofvent 500 box, or readily available from your authorised Alsynite Distributor.

Positioning of Roofvents

Ideally, the Roofvent 500 should be positioned at the peak of the roof. The base plate of the ventilator system must be installed underneath the ridge or apex, to avoid water leakages. Refer adjacent drawing.

We also recommend that the centre distances between each ventilator is no less than 3 metres. (Refer to the following drawing).

3 Metre centers required

NB:
Attempt to locate all ventilators in undisturbed air in all directions. Avoid installing on a low roof adjacent to verticals walls.
